About

Fishy is a simple but addictive arcade game: you're a small fish in a sea of fish of various sizes. Eat the fish smaller than you to grow; avoid fish larger than you or be eaten. As you grow, you can eat more species — and more species can eat you. The game is an endless loop of sizing up the competition.

The satisfaction of Fishy comes from watching your fish grow from a tiny minnow to a massive predator that barely fits the screen. The progression is clear and constant — every fish eaten makes you visibly larger.

Fishy is a perfect no-pressure break game. No objectives, no time limit, no failure condition except poor decisions. Pick up, grow, put down.

How to Play

  • Move your fish with the mouse (or arrow keys).
  • Swim toward fish that are visibly smaller than yours to eat them.
  • Avoid fish that are larger — they will eat you.
  • Grow by eating progressively larger fish.

Tips

  • Don't rush toward clusters of big fish just because one small one is there.
  • Edge-of-screen positioning gives you fewer directions of approach from large predators.
  • Focus on eating frequently rather than eating the biggest available fish.

History

Fishy was one of the most-played Flash games of the early-to-mid 2000s, distributed through early gaming portals like Miniclip and Addicting Games. Its mechanics directly inspired the browser and mobile game Agar.io (2015), which became a global phenomenon with a multiplayer take on the same grow-by-eating concept. The basic mechanic also appears in the Feeding Frenzy commercial game series by PopCap.
