About

Land Grab is a Monopoly-style board game where players buy properties, build houses and hotels, and bankrupt their opponents through rent collection. Roll the dice, move around the board, and snap up land before others do — then watch the rent pile up as they land on your properties.

Like classic Monopoly, the key to winning is acquiring colour groups and developing them as fast as possible. A monopoly with hotels generates life-changing rent, while an undeveloped portfolio leaves you cash-poor and vulnerable. Trading and negotiation with other players is often the difference between winning and losing.

Games can run long, but Land Grab keeps the pace brisk. Whether you're playing against AI or other people, expect the familiar swings of fortune — a lucky dice roll putting you just past someone's hotel, or an unlucky tax square hitting right when your cash is low.

How to Play

  • Roll the dice and move your token around the board.
  • Land on an unowned property to buy it or leave it for auction.
  • Collect rent from opponents who land on your properties.
  • Own all properties of a colour group to build houses and hotels.
  • Bankrupt all opponents to win the game.

Tips

  • Focus on completing colour groups rather than buying isolated properties.
  • Build houses quickly — three houses generates significantly more rent than one.
  • Keep enough cash in reserve to pay rent; going bankrupt ends your game immediately.

History

Monopoly was created by Charles Darrow in the 1930s, though its roots trace back to The Landlord's Game patented by Elizabeth Magie in 1903. It was designed to illustrate the economic concept of land value taxation. Parker Brothers published Monopoly in 1935 and it became one of the best-selling board games of all time. Land Grab is a browser-based homage to that classic formula, bringing the property trading experience to a quick online format.
