About

Minigolf (pocket golf) is the casual, obstacle-laden cousin of the full game. Each hole is a short track filled with walls, ramps, windmills, and other hazards. You aim and putt the ball into the cup in as few strokes as possible. Holes-in-one are celebrated; triple-bogeys are inevitable.

The browser version of Minigolf uses simple physics that are easy to understand but hard to master. Angles must be precise, bounce trajectories predicted, and power calibrated. A shot that looks direct might ricochet off a wall and overshoot; a gentle touch might roll perfectly true.

Minigolf is perfectly calibrated for coffee breaks. Each hole takes 30 seconds to a minute; a full 9-hole round is complete in under 10 minutes. The physics are predictable enough to be satisfying but irregular enough to stay interesting. No sports knowledge required.

How to Play

  • Click and drag from the ball to set direction and power (longer drag = harder shot).
  • Release to putt the ball toward the hole.
  • Navigate obstacles: walls, ramps, and special mechanics on each hole.
  • Score is measured in strokes — fewer is better.
  • Complete all holes to finish the round and see your total score.

Tips

  • For bounces off walls, use the angle-of-reflection principle: in equals out.
  • Use less power than you think you need — overshoot is the most common mistake.
  • Aim for the side of the hole that gives you a second chance if you miss long.

History

Miniature golf was invented in the United States in the early 20th century. The first standardized course design appeared in 1916, and by the 1930s "Tom Thumb Golf" courses were ubiquitous across American cities. The sport became a cultural staple of summer recreation and amusement parks. Digital minigolf games appeared in the early personal computer era and have remained popular browser games, combining accessible gameplay with physics simulation.
